College Fair Season in Full Swing
This fall, parents and students will have several opportunities to learn more about post-secondary education opportunities, scholarships and financial aid. Upcoming college fairs and events include:
- Sunday, Nov. 5—Greater Washington, DC National College Fair—12:30–4 p.m. at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. Parents and students participating will be able to meet one-on-one with representatives from colleges and universities to discuss admission and financial aid opportunities. Register before the fair to make the most of your time onsite and ensure that colleges can follow up with you. Upon arrival at the fair, pick up a map to find your best-fitting colleges. Counselors will be available onsite to help you determine the colleges that meet your requirements regarding major, location and other areas of interest.
- Tuesday, Nov. 7—College and Career Fair—From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bohrer Park in Gaithersburg, high schools juniors and seniors will be admitted with their high schools.
- Thursday, Nov. 9—Pathway to College—Juniors and parents can meet with college representatives from The University of Maryland, The Universities at Shady Grove and Montgomery College. Sign up here and click on Event, Montgomery College, Germantown Campus, 4–7 pm. A session is offered in Spanish at 5:30 pm.
The MCPS Parent Academy is also holding a workshop on financial aid. It will be held from 7–8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2, at Quince Orchard High School, 15800 Quince Orchard Road in Gaithersburg. Register online or call 240-314-4860.
