Superintendent Joshua Starr will hold several outreach events in the upcoming months. These events—which include community days, student town halls and Bell Times forums—will provide the MCPS community with an opportunity to ask question and share their ideas.
Dr. Starr will hold his next Community Day event on Thursday, Nov. 21, in the Downcounty Consortium (Montgomery Blair, Albert Einstein, John F. Kennedy, Northwood and Wheaton clusters). The Town Hall meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Montgomery Blair High School, 51 University Blvd. East in Silver Spring. The dates and Town Hall locations for the two other Community Days are:
-Monday, February 3, 2014: Bethesda-Chevy Chase, Winston Churchill, Richard Montgomery, Rockville, Walter Johnson, Walt Whitman and Thomas S. Wootton clusters; Town Hall at Winston Churchill High School
-Monday, April 28, 2014: Northeast Consortium (James Hubert Blake, Paint Branch and Springbrook), Col. Zadok Magruder and Sherwood clusters; Town Hall at Paint Branch High School
Student Town Halls
The next Student Town Hall is set for Monday, Nov. 25 at A. Mario Loiederman Middle School. The Student Town Hall meetings are an opportunity for Dr. Starr to hear directly from students about issues that are important to them. These events will be hosted by Justin Kim, the Student Member of the Board of Education. They will be archived on the MCPS website and shown on MCPS TV.
The dates and location of the remaining Student Town Halls are:
-Tuesday, Jan. 28, Northwood High School
-Thursday, Feb. 27, Rosa Parks Middle School
– Tuesday, March 18, Watkins Mill High School
– Thursday, April 24, Herbert Hoover Middle School

MCPS will offer multiple opportunities over the next several months to provide feedback on proposed changes to school start and end times. This will include community forums, focus groups and surveys. The first community forum was held on October 28. The dates and locations for the three other community forums are:
- Monday, December 16: Richard Montgomery High School, 250 Richard Montgomery Drive in Rockville
- Monday, January 6: Seneca Valley High School, 19401 Crystal Rock Drive in Germantown
- Monday, February 10: Montgomery Blair High School, 51 University Blvd., East, in Silver Spring
All forums will be held from 7 –8:30 p.m. Free child care (ages 4 and older) and interpretation services will be provided. Visit the Bell Times website for more information.
