The Montgomery County Department of Transportation is launching the Walk Your Way Project to help educate high school students about the importance of pedestrian safety. The county will be awarding up to $2,000 to teams of high school students for creating, designing and implementing a pedestrian safety education program at their high school. Projects can range from painting sidewalks, to designing and distributing posters and other materials, to holding a schoolwide assembly. To be eligible for this grant, students must work in groups of two or more and have the support of at least one teacher or staff supervisor. The project must be developed and implemented by April 30, 2014. Applications are due Monday, Dec. 16, at 5 p.m. Submissions can be emailed to email@example.com or delivered to 101 Monroe Street, 10th floor in Rockville.
