Winter Weather: How Decisions Are Made
As weather forecasts predict inclement weather for tomorrow and Friday, we want to take a moment to let you know that we are closely monitoring the situation and remind you of our decision-making process regarding delays and school closings.
A number of factors go in to the decision to delay or close schools, including cold temperatures, precipitation, safety of the roads, and safety of our school buildings. We also consider the safety of our students who walk to school, particularly as it relates to delays and cold weather. Additionally, we consider student nutrition for the many students who rely on school-provided breakfasts and lunches, as well as well as the ability for parents/guardians to secure appropriate student supervision.
Any decision about school delays or closures are announced by 5:00 a.m. and posted on our website and on social media, and broadcast by local news outlets.
