MCPS has partnered with McDaniel College and the University of Maryland, College Park to offer several professional development programs.
McDaniel College is offering a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction, and an administrator I certification program. Eligible MCPS employees receive a discounted tuition rate. Applicants must have at least five years of experience to apply. An information session will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, in the Maple Room at 45 W. Gude Dr. in Rockville. RSVP here.

The University of Maryland, College Park is offering a master’s degree in mathematics education. This is a content-based program that prepares teachers to become highly qualified middle grades mathematics teachers (4th–9th grades). This research-based program involves coursework in mathematics content and mathematics pedagogy courses, as well as courses to support your leadership in areas such as assessment, curriculum and equity. This is a 30-credit program intended for teachers already certified in elementary or middle school math education, special education, or in ESOL who are teaching or plan to teach in subject matter classrooms in the middle grades. Current teachers can get $1,000 when starting the program in fall 2017. The application deadline is June 30. For more information, contact Beatriz Quintos.
