Change Made to Retiree Health Benefits Eligibility for Those Hired or Rehired after July 1, 2019
Montgomery County Public Schools has updated the eligibility requirements for its retiree healthcare benefits plan.
When they retire, MCPS employees hired or rehired on or after July 1, 2019, will need 10 years of continuous MCPS pension-eligible service from their most recent hire or rehire date to be eligible for retiree health care benefits.
The new requirement will not impact MCPS employees hired or rehired prior to July 1, 2019. Eligibility requirements for these employees is available in the 2019 Retiree Benefit Summary.
