Montgomery County Public Schools  (MCPS) and CareFirst have partnered to give permanent MCPS staff free membership to Wellbeats. Wellbeats is an online platform with access to high- quality, 1- to 60-minute videos—from fitness to mindfulness—for every age. Wellbeats is equitable, scalable, and easy to use. You can work out to virtual fitness classes on your phone, computer, television, or smartboard. Schedule time to work out with your coworkers and get fit as a group!

Whether you are new to your health and wellness journey or you are a marathon runner, Wellbeats has something for everyone! Choose from 1,000+ classes for all ability levels, including yoga, HIIT, strength training, running and walking, mindfulness and meditation, nutrition (including recipes), cycling, circuits, kickboxing, dance, work breaks, stretching, and so much more. New classes are added regularly to the Wellbeats app.

Wellbeats was introduced to MCPS staff in February 2022. Since then, MCPS staff have been fully utilizing the platform. Mary Joseph, wellness specialist with the Department of Transportation, has gotten great feedback from her coworkers who are enjoying the app.

“You can log on to Wellbeats midday or midnight,” Mary said. “With our transportation schedules, this platform is perfect! Our staff has found many programs to meet their needs.”

From recipes, HIIT, Pilates, cardio, and mindfulness, it’s a mixed bag of Wellness goodies to choose from. And, our staff has found the app very easy to use! For workers who don’t typically use technology as part of our jobs, it was very easy to teach DOT staff how to use the app, stream from personal devices, and share classes.”

Registration and streaming are both easy to do. Simply follow the steps in the Welcome to Wellbeats flyer and the How to Access Wellbeats Guide.
