Wellness Initiatives: What You Need to Do

If you are covered by a Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) medical insurance plan through CareFirst or Kaiser Permanente, take steps now to participate in the Wellness Initiatives program for 2020. The tables below show you what to do, when to do it, and how you will benefit from the program:

Complete your medical insurance plan’s online health risk assessment Logging in to your password-protected account on your medical insurance plan’s website and following the on-screen instructions October 4, 2019—and yearly thereafter 1 percent of the total cost of your health insurance premiums

Attest that you and your spouse will be tobacco free throughout 2019 Selecting the appropriate statement on the Tobacco Attestation screen by logging in via the Employee Self-Service web page (ESS). From ESS, you will either—

  • click on Open Enrollment if making changes to your benefits or enrolling in a flexible spending account (FSA), OR
  • click on Tobacco attestation if NOT making changes to your benefits or enrolling in an FSA. Then, click the link under Calendar Year 2020 to log in and attest.

* If you are a CareFirst BlueChoice plan member and choose to have your primary care physician conduct your health screening, you must ask your physician to complete and sign a CareFirst Health and Wellness Evaluation or Minute Clinic Health Screening form. Instructions for downloading and submitting the form are on the Wellness Initiatives for Employees web page.
