Changes to Administration of Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate Exams
On Feb. 4, the College Board and International Baccalaureate (IB) announced changes to spring 2021 Advanced Placement (AP) and IB exams. MCPS will review the available options, gather feedback from stakeholders and develop a districtwide plan for AP and IB test administration in spring 2021. Below is a summary of the available options:
- AP Exams: College Board has announced that there will be three available testing windows for each exam. The first window, May 3–17, will be a traditional paper/pencil administration under traditional proctoring. The two additional windows, May 18-28 and June 1-11, will offer a combination of paper/pencil and digital testing, with in-school or at-home options for the digital exams. More information here.
- IB Exams: IB exams will have two options: 1) traditional paper/pencil exams during the May exam session, or 2) submission of Internal Assessments (IAs) to be awarded the IB Grade, still allowing for access to earning the IB Diploma and college credit where applicable. More information is provided here.
Updates will be provided in early March.
