Final Car, Computer Sale of the School Year Set for May 14

Students in the Montgomery County Students Automotive Trades Foundation (ATF) and the Information Technology Foundation (ITF) will be selling used cars and computers that they have refurbished from 9–11 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, at Thomas Edison High School of Technology, 12501 Dalewood Drive in Silver Spring.
The cars and computers are reconditioned by the students as part of their classroom and lab studies. The sales provide students with the opportunity to practice their sales skills, earn Student Service Learning hours, and develop a deeper appreciation for community involvement.
The computers have been thoroughly inspected and refurbished by students in the Network Operations program. A new operating system has been installed in each machine. Or, for experienced users that want to experiment with Linux or other operating systems, the same system can be purchased with a blank wiped hard drive. Either way, systems come complete with LCD flat-panel monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers.
The ATF is also seeking car donations, which help high school students learn how to evaluate, repair and restore used cars. The ATF accepts donations year-round between 8 a.m.–3 p.m. Monday through Friday at Damascus, Gaithersburg and Seneca Valley high schools, at Thomas Edison High School of Technology and at the Shady Grove Bus Depot. Donations may be tax-deductible.
