ACT-SO Competition Open to High School Students
The NAACP’s Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological, and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) is an enrichment program and competition open to high school students. Students are invited to compete in more than 30 categories, including science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), humanities, performance arts, visual arts and entrepreneurship.
Participants work with community-based volunteers for a year to develop projects and performances. The experience culminates in local and national events where students compete for scholarships and other rewards.
ACT-SO prepares, recognizes and rewards youth who exemplify scholastic and artistic excellence, as well as develop public speaking, time management and other life-building skills.
ACT-SO applications, short bios and photos should be turned in by Monday, Nov. 15. The final due date for projects and applications is Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022.
Interested students should contact their school, or email ACT-SO chairs Pat Price or Laura Dennis.
