MCPS Planning to Offer Systemwide Summer Programs

MCPS is planning a variety of summer programs for elementary, middle and high school students. Programs will be focused on helping students accelerate learning following this unprecedented school year, with a focus on mathematics, literacy and preparing for the next grade level. At the high school level, there will be a wide range of opportunities to earn high school credits in all subject areas required for graduation, for both repeat and original credit.
Traditional programs, including Extended School Year (ESY), Extended Learning Opportunities Summer Adventures in Learning (ELO SAIL), Summer RISE, Summer UP, and other enrichment opportunities and camps will also be offered.
MCPS hopes to be able to serve students in person, but is also planning for virtual/hybrid instructional models. The goal is to provide programs at no cost to students (pending budget approval) throughout MCPS, with programs spanning from late June through early August. The length of each program may differ depending on the program and grade level. Specific central and school-based programs will be announced in March and student registration is expected to begin in April.
