Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade Set for Nov. 19
Who doesn’t love a parade?
The annual Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade will be held from 10 a.m.–noon on Saturday, Nov. 19. The only Thanksgiving parade in the area, it features marching bands, dancing groups, floats and inflatable turkeys and penguins. The route starts at Ellsworth Drive and Fenton Street in downtown Silver Spring, heads south on Georgia Avenue and ends at Silver Spring Avenue. The parade will be held rain or shine.
The Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade is looking for volunteers. The parade needs volunteers, aged 13 and older, to dress up in costume, to serve as unit leaders, and to be inflatable and balloon handlers. The hours for volunteers are from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (volunteers need to be present the entire six hours). Students 13 years old and older can receive Student Service Learning (SSL) hours for participating. More information is available here.
