Scholarships Open to African American Seniors

The Montgomery County branch of the NAACP is awarding $1,000 scholarships to MCPS graduating seniors. The deadline to submit applications is Friday, March 24. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or above, participate in extracurricular activities and participate in faith-based, religious-based or volunteer activities.

The scholarships will be presented during the annual Freedom Fund Dinner on May 21.
Nominations Open for Distinguished African American Scholars
The Montgomery County Alliance of Black School Educators (MCABSE) is accepting submissions for its annual Distinguished African American Scholars.
Applicants must be graduating MCPS high school seniors who plan to pursue post-secondary studies at an institution of higher learning, including community college and technical training schools, for the 2023–2024 school year. Scholars must be committed to academic excellence and to leadership in their high school schools and communities. Principals, resource counselors and college and career information coordinators are asked to submit the name of one student to represent their school.
Applications must be submitted online by Friday, March 10.
A ceremony to honor the scholars will be held on Wednesday, April 26. Details are to be determined.
