MCPS permanent employees can begin accessing their annual tax forms via Employee Self-Service (ESS) within the next two weeks.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) now mandates that employers provide 2021 tax forms to their employees as follows:

  • W-2s are to be provided by Jan. 31, 2022.
  • 1095-Cs are to be provided by March 2, 2022.

MCPS employees will receive their W-2s and 1095-Cs by these deadlines. Those who authorize web delivery of their tax forms by the Jan. 10, 2022, deadline will receive them earlier than those who wait for delivery of hard copies. If you authorized web delivery for a previous year, you do not need to do so again. Your authorization remains in place unless you revoke it via ESS.

For those employees who do not authorize web delivery by Jan. 10, 2022, MCPS will mail your W-2 to the address we have on file for you. ERSC is required to provide them by Jan. 31, 2022, to those who do not choose web delivery.

No matter how you choose to receive your W-2 and 1095-C, make sure your address is updated in our system so it appears correctly on the tax forms. Visit ESS and click on My profile under the orange My Information banner. Log in using your Outlook username and password. If you need to update your address, return to ESS, click on My Address change under the My Information banner, read the information on the next screen, then click Update your address at the bottom of the screen.

For more information about W-2 and 1095-C distribution and for details that will assist you with filing your 2021 taxes, visit the Tax Information webpage between Jan. 18–21, 2021.
