All In: Diversity Enriches Us

As you’ve heard me say many times before, All Means All. Montgomery County is a richly diverse community. Our 164,000 students come from more than 160 countries and speak 150 languages. I believe that diversity is an asset to be celebrated. MCPS is deeply attached and connected to its core values—respect, relationships, equity, excellence and learning.
So, then, it’s all the more disturbing to know that we continue to see bigoted and hateful incidents in our school communities. I know that these acts do not represent the majority of our staff or students. Still, we will not tolerate it. We will not stand for hate. We must work together to call these acts out and continue the work to make sure that our schools are safe and welcoming for all.
