Cyber Family Fest Set for Saturday, Nov. 12

Montgomery College’s ignITe Hub and MCPS are holding a Cyber Family Fest from 10 a.m.–noon on Saturday, Nov. 12.
The ignITe Hub is a new initiative between the college, MCPS, the Montgomery County Economic Development Council and county government that will advance equitable access to STEM and information technology (IT) careers for underrepresented students and promote local entrepreneurship opportunities in 21st century technology-learning environment.
The Nov. 12 event is targeted to middle and high school students and their families. Several events will be happening simultaneously:
- Moderated panels of computer science students and local IT professionals
- A career and training pathway presentation on: MCPS tech programs, as well as the college’s credit tech programs, Cyber Lab, Information Technology Institute Program (non-credit) and the ignITe Hub
- A presentation providing online safety tips for families
- Apple Swift Playground demonstrations
- Information on the Cybersecurity Forensic Challenge in March 2023 and Middle School Summer Cyber Camp 2023
The event will be held at the ignITe Hub on the college’s Rockville campus, 800 Hungerford Drive.
