Athletics Kicks Off Its First Semester of Virtual Sports
MCPS Athletics has kicked off its virtual interscholastic sports seasons for the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year.
The fall high school season began Monday, Sept. 14, and will run through Friday, Oct. 16. The high school fall sports offerings are: cheerleading, cross country, field hockey, football, golf (coed), boys’ soccer, girls’ soccer, girls’ volleyball and team handball. The fall middle school season will begin Tuesday, Sept. 22, and run through Thursday, Oct. 8. Middle school fall sport offerings include cross country, and boys’ and girls’ softball.
As part of the MCPS interscholastic athletics program, all students must complete the online registration process. Registration links will be posted on school websites and on the Athletics webpage.
As a reminder, all secondary students are academically eligible to participate in athletics during the 2020–2021 school year. Athletic programs will be open to all students; there will be no “cuts” or team selection process. Students and parents/guardians who have difficulty with registration should contact the athletics specialist or athletic coordinator at their school.
