Attend Public Hearings on Proposed FY 2015 Operating Budget

Superintendent Joshua Starr submitted a $2.28 billion recommended operating budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2015 to the Board of Education on Dec. 10. Dr. Starr’s recommendation will allow the district to manage its continued enrollment growth, while making strategic investments to re-energize efforts to narrow the achievement gap and prepare our staff and students for future opportunities, Visit the MCPS Operating Budget website to learn more about Dr. Starr’s budget proposal. And don’t miss the chance to share your ideas and views on the proposed budget at two upcoming public hearings: the first is Thursday, Jan. 9 at 7 p.m.; the second is Thursday, Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. Both hearings will be held in the auditorium of the Carver Educational Services Center, 850 Hungerford Drive in Rockville.

The Board also will conduct two budget work sessions on Tuesday, Jan. 21 and Thursday, Jan. 23. These sessions are open to the public. On Tuesday, Feb. 11, the Board is scheduled to approve a budget request that will be submitted to the County Executive and the County Council for consideration.
