An alternative way to complete the Wellness Initiatives biometric health screening is available again this year for MCPS employees who wish to reduce their 2023 health insurance premiums.

Due to the pandemic, MCPS employees may have difficulty completing a biometric health screening or physical by the Oct. 7, 2022, deadline. For that reason, MCPS has made an alternative available: Wellness Initiatives: Biometrics Incentive Alternative 2023 Benefit Year training (course number 90899) on Professional Development Online (PDO). Employees who complete the training by Friday, Oct. 7, 2022, will pay 1 percent less of the total cost of their 2023 health insurance.

Employees who are able to complete their yearly physical with their doctor (or at a MinuteClinic for CareFirst members) also have until Oct. 7 to do so and receive the premium discount.

Note that it takes several weeks for Wellness Initiatives credits to be applied to your record. To find out if you have received credit for your Wellness Initiatives participation, follow these instructions.

The Wellness Initiatives program was established to help MCPS employees learn about their health and reduce their contributions to health insurance costs. By completing a biometric health screening and their medical plan’s online health risk assessment by the announced deadline each year, employees pay up to 2 percent less of the total cost of their health insurance.
