Chaperone Stipends Available for Student Leadership Day on April 15

The MCPS Student Leadership and Extracurricular Activities Unit is excited to host the first Next Generation Leadership Day on Saturday, April 15, at Northwood High School. The leadership conference is for select fifth grade students from across all elementary schools.
The unit is seeking 25 MCPS staff members to support the event as a chaperone; pay is a $160 stipend for the day. Chaperone responsibilities include:
- Greeting students at assigned district high schools (7:30 a.m.)
- Chaperoning students on the bus to Northwood High School.
- Attending some workshop sessions (high school student leaders handle attendance and workshops).
- Chaperoning students on the bus back to assigned high schools (3:30 p.m.)
The purpose of the leadership conference is to build the confidence and leadership capacity of fifth graders; expose students to leadership, advocacy and activism, public speaking and team building; provide student leaders with a space to connect and learn from peers.
Stipend positions are first come, first served. Interested staff should email Shella B. Cherry, director, Student Leadership and Extracurricular Activities.
