Educational Foundation Offering Project Grants to Staff
With the start of a new school year, the MCPS Educational Foundation is offering grants to staff. Do you have a project you’d like to launch, but need funding for it?
The foundation is offering $500, $1,000 and $1,500 grants to staff for a variety of projects. Funding will be awarded to creative and innovative projects that strengthen instruction. Priority will be given to proposals that respond to the pandemic, for example, grants seeking support for social distancing during lunch, or projects that mitigate learning disruption as students return to the classroom.
Special $500 grants are also available from the Linda Adams Fine Arts Education Grant, Wayne E. Whigham and Charles A. Anthony Eichler Memorial Funds. The Adams fund was created to support art education and the Whigham/Eicher funds are for music education programs in MCPS. Funds may be used to purchase instruments for teachers or students; for student- or teacher-proposed projects that incorporate music, or for the acquisition of sheet music that will be used in musical arts instruction. Programs should be experiential in design and provide active learning experiences for the students who participate.
The deadline for submitting applications is Friday, Sept. 24. All grant applications must be submitted online. Please read the guidelines for each application process. Programs are to be carried out during the 2021-2022 school year.
The Foundation receives funds to support educational programs from charitable foundations and nonprofit, government granting agencies and individuals. Each year, the Foundation funds extended hours for technology access and small grants that are used for innovative instruction and special programs, including but not limited to, support for vulnerable students, support for parent involvement, and technological support.
