Essay Contest on Racial Injustice Open to High School Students
An essay contest focused on racial injustice is open to public high school students in Montgomery County.
The contest is being presented by the Montgomery County Lynching Memorial Project and the Equal Justice Initiative.
Students are asked to examine the history of a topic of racial injustice and to discuss its legacy today. Essays should explain the chosen topic using a specific historical event(s); explore how the injustice persists; and imagine solutions for a future free from racial injustice. Students are encouraged to reflect on how the topic impacts their own lives and communities.

The deadline for submissions is 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 1.
Winners will be announced on Saturday, Sept. 25.
