Walter Johnson High School welcomed about 150 senior citizens at a Thanksgiving feast on Nov. 16. This was the 43rd year that the school has hosted the Senior Citizens Luncheon, which came complete with a traditional turkey dinner, served by students, music and dancing.
The guests were from six senior citizens’ centers, rehab homes and community centers around Montgomery County.
The event was coordinated and hosted by the Walter Johnson Key Club, but many students participated by eating with the seniors, serving them lunch and dancing with them. The cafeteria staff prepared the lunch and the building services staff helped turned the cafeteria into a party hall for the event.
The school’s jazz band played throughout the luncheon. The advanced choir, Renaissance Madrigals and show choir also performed.
