Higher Education Partnerships Offering Virtual Information Sessions

The Office of Human Resources and Development, in partnership with local colleges and universities, is hosting several virtual information sessions for employees who want to begin teacher preparation programs, or for current teachers and other employees who want to pursue continuing education opportunities for the 2020-2021 school year. Interested employees should register for the information sessions on PDO. Information sessions will be recorded for review by employees who are unable to attend scheduled meetings.

Teacher Preparation Partnerships

Teacher preparation partnerships are pathways available to supporting services employees seeking initial certification to teach in specific content areas. Upcoming information sessions are listed below. RSVP on PDO to receive the meeting link and detailed program information.

University of Maryland (UMD) Creative Initiatives in Teacher Education (CITE), from 4:30-5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17

UMD CITE participants who hold bachelor’s degrees work as paraeducators during the program. CITE prepares participants to become general education teachers in grades 1-6. The next cohort will begin in January 2021. RSVP on PDO (course #87596).

Continuing Education and Educational Leadership Partnerships

Continuing education and educational leadership partnerships are recruiting and offering information sessions for interested employees who hold initial teacher certification. This is your chance to join McDaniel College’s newly designed Curriculum and Instruction program, now called Master of Science in Innovations in Teaching and Learning with Administrator I certification. The fall cohort begins October 19. Information sessions are being held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10; Tuesday, Sept. 15; and Wednesday, Sept. 16. Register here.
