Hispanic Heritage Month PD: Diversity Within the Hispanic/Latinx Population
MCPS staff is invited to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by attending a virtual event with speakers on Hispanic/Latinx culture and history.
Speakers will include Georgetown University authorities on Hispanic/Latinx culture and history who will discuss the diversity within the Hispanic/Latinx population in Latin America and the U.S. Guest speakers will be:
- Angelo Rivero Santos, associate teaching professor and director of academic affairs in the Center for Latin American Studies at Georgetown.
- Victor Fernandez Mallat, assistant professor who teaches a variety of courses in Spanish linguistics.
- Kevin Healy, adjunct professor who has taught courses on indigenous movements in Latin America and on drug trafficking in the Americas.
- Wlamyra Albuquerque, the Dr. Ruth Cardoso Visiting Scholar at Georgetown, who is also a professor of history at the Federal University of Bahia, Brazil.
This event will be held on Professional Development Online (course # 91339), from 5–6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12.
