Hundreds Attend Annual STEM Festival
Parents and students of all ages attended the MCPS STEM Festival, which showcased elementary, middle and high school science, technology, engineering and math opportunities with engaging hands-on demonstrations. The fair featured a variety of activities, including an electric car; a chance to explore wind tubes and circuits; a mobile science lab; competition robots and civil engineering projects.
They keynote speaker was Dr. Sara Faggi, a postdoctoral researcher in the Solar System Division at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, who spoke on NASA’s investigation of comets in the solar system and how they may have affected life on Earth.
As an official 2019 Maryland STEM Festival event, the MCPS showcase was among hundreds of community-based events that showcased STEM activities for Maryland residents. The mission is to encourage students to take a greater interest in STEM and perhaps pursue STEM-related careers.
