October 19 Forum to Discuss Safety and Transportation for Students
A Safe Routes to School Forum is being held on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Northwood High School.
Set for 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m., the event is being hosted by the Montgomery County Council of PTAs and the Montgomery County Pedestrian, Bicycle and Traffic Safety Advisory Committee. The forum invites parents, students, neighbors and officials to discuss how to make walking and bus routes safe for Montgomery County students. Sidewalks, cycling paths, bus stop locations and parent drop-off loops are all important components of keeping kids safe as they walk and ride to school.
A variety of topics are expected to be discussed, such as building a better bus stop system; public transit 101 for students; which schools receive crossing guards; and how to get (better) sidewalks in your neighborhood.
Northwood High School is at 919 University Blvd. West in Silver Spring.
