Don’t miss all the free virtual events coming Nov. 8–13 for Mental Health Awareness Week.

MCPS and the Montgomery County School Psychologists’ Association are hosting the week to give youth and families the opportunity to hear from mental health experts on a variety of issues.

The weeklong expo will feature daily themes, dynamic speakers and breakout sessions, as well as three live events: a Waymaking Special on Student Mental Health, a Careers in Mental Health information session, and a Resource Fair and Q&A session on Saturday, Nov. 13. Daily themes include: Mental Health and Personal Safety (Monday); Mental Health and Relationship Building (Tuesday); Mental Health and Physical Activity (Wednesday); Mental Health as a Future Career (Thursday); and Mental Health and Resiliency (Friday).

The week will have three live events. They are:

  • Tuesday, Nov. 9, 7–8:30 p.m.: The Waymaking Special on Student Mental Health event will highlight student perceptions and concerns regarding their own mental health. Our Minds Matters club members and student leaders will discuss their thoughts and experiences related to mental health, and answer questions.
  • Thursday, Nov. 11, 6:30–8 p.m.: The Information Session on Careers in Mental Health will highlight a variety of mental health professions students may be interested in pursuing as a career.
  • Saturday, Nov. 13, noon–1:30 p.m.: The Mental Health Resource Fair and Q&A Session will provide information to participants about community resources available to support mental health and well-being.

Sessions will be available in multiple languages.
