Latino Community Forum Open to Bilingual Families

A Latino Community Forum will be held from 5:30–8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30 at Forest Oak Middle School.
This forum is being held to hear input from Latino and bilingual families on issues related to their child’s academic achievement. Resources will also be available to families. There will be several breakout sessions to discuss topics such as: the bilingual advantage; language immersion models at elementary schools; the Seal of Biliteracy; magnet programs; and career readiness. The welcome session will feature Dr. María Navarro, Chief Academic Officer for MCPS.
Sessions during the forum will be held in English and Spanish, with language interpretation available. Light dinner and childcare will be provided.
This event is hosted by the Latino Student Achievement Action Group (LSAAG); the Montgomery County Latino Advocacy Coalition (MCLAC) and MCPS.
