MCPS Cares Charity Campaign Kicking Off October 12
The MCPS Educational Foundation is kicking off this year’s MCPS Cares Employees’ Charity Campaign on Monday, Oct. 12. The annual campaign raises funds for nonprofit organizations in Montgomery County. While many in the community that we serve have seen their employment disrupted, the MCPS workforce has been fortunate to keep job security.
By donating through payroll deduction for 20 pay periods, employees can make a big impact on programs, such as ACES, Dine with Dignity, GIVE BACKpacks, Help Me Make Music, DigitALL ACCESS, Toolkits, and Families Helping Families, the COVID-19 gift card campaign led by parent volunteers. Giving through payroll deduction also reduces your wage-based taxable income.
Past donations have allowed the Foundation to support student learning and well-being in several ways.
Last year, the Foundation paid Fiscal Year 2020 school lunch debt for more than 6,100 FARMS students.
This year, the Foundation has
- Granted more than $82,000 to School Library Media Programs to acquire digital content resources for prekindergarten to 12th grade students, and
- Granted $13,700 to the Office of Student and Family Support and Engagement for the implementation of Active Minds, a mental health program for students in grades 8-12.
Staff gifts to the Foundation help attract contributions from other donors. Every donor will be listed on the MCPS Cares Honor Roll of Donors. Donors giving at least $3 per pay period will be recognized as AP (Advanced Philanthropist) Donors.
Please donate to MCPS Cares and show the community how current events have not reduced our spirit of service.
