Mental Health Fair Features Supports, Self-Care and Stress Management
Held on Nov. 9, the annual MCPS Mental Health Fair welcomed staff, parents, students and community members to learn about topics impacting their children and offered resources available to support students’ physical, social and psychological well-being.
Breakout sessions covered a variety of topics, including mindfulness and yoga; self-care for caregivers; stress management techniques; supporting LGBTQ students; food and nutrition; vaping; social media; and the importance of staying engaged with secondary students.
Celeste Malone, associate professor and coordinator of the school psychology program at Howard University, delivered the keynote address on Breaking Barriers to Access Youth Mental Health Care.
Many community and governmental organizations also provided valuable information and materials for attendees.
