MSDE Hosting Summer Summits for Teachers, Administrators
The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) is hosting two summits this summer—one for teachers and a second for principals, other administrators and educational staff.
The 5th Annual Teacher Leadership Summit, modeled after the National Teach to Lead Program, will be held on July 29-30 at The Chesapeake Bay Foundation in Annapolis. This summit will provide teachers with resources and collaboration opportunities to nurture innovative ideas that can make a positive impact for students. To apply, visit the program’s website here. (You must be logged into your .net account to access.)
Applications are due Monday, May 13. If you have questions, contact Cecilia Roe with MSDE.
The second summit is for principals, other administrators and educational staff. The Division of Early Childhood Family Engagement Summit, Understanding Implicit Bias: Engaging Families in Culturally Responsive Ways, will be held from 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8, at the Maritime Conference Center in Linthicum, Md. Registration is free. Register here.
Author and national expert Dr. Rosemarie Allen will speak about implicit bias and its impacts on how to engage families. Dr. Allen will also participate in a panel discussion with early childhood and K-12 leaders.
