Parent Academy Holding To-Go Virtual Webinars, Chats and Workshops
Families and students can stay engaged throughout the school year with Parent Academy To Go. Parent Academy To Go is a series of virtual webinars for families to watch at home. Nov. 4, 11, 18 and 25, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Active Parenting Now! This is a series of four workshops and is limited to 20 participants. Learn effective ways to communicate with your child, discuss positive discipline techniques, and hear how to handle power struggles. Presented by the Montgomery County Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health. Recommended for families of elementary, middle and high school students.
Nov. 5, 6-7 p.m., Accessibility Tools for Students Pursuing Alternate Learning Outcomes. Virtual learning can be difficult to navigate for our students, families or caregivers supporting them. This presentation will provide families with the opportunity to explore some of the assistive technology tools available as well as learn about the new support website released this September. Presented by MCPS staff. Recommended for families of elementary and secondary students with disabilities who are pursuing alternate learning outcomes.
Nov. 12, 19, Dec. 3, 6-7 p.m., Assistive Technology/Accessibility Tools that Support Students with Reading and Writing Accommodations. During this three-part series, we will review: accessibility tools (11-12), text-to-speech tools (11-19), and speech to text and word prediction (12-3). Presented by the MCPS High Incidence Accessible Technology team. Recommended for families of elementary and secondary students with disabilities.
