Recovery Walk and Celebration to Be Held June 11

Join MCPS to raise awareness around the dangers of opioid usage during a recovery walk and celebration from noon–5 p.m. at 630 E. Diamond Avenue in Gaithersburg on Saturday, June 11.
This event is being hosted by The Landing, an MCPS recovery school; the Recovery and Academic Program, a collaboration between MCPS and Sheppard Pratt to connect youth with academic and substance use recovery support services; and the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services.
The half-mile walk will begin at 3:30 p.m. The event will also include resource tables, guest speakers and a DJ.
Reducing the rates of opioid overdose starts with reducing the stigma around getting help. The Landing and Recovery and Academic Program are designed to help youth get and stay sober in a supportive and welcoming environment. The programs provide opportunities for young people to build skills and confidence, while pursuing academic and personal goals.
