Each fall, eligible MCPS employees receive a Personal Statement of Retirement Benefits containing important financial and retirement service information for retirement planning. Log in starting Wednesday, Sept. 25 to view your 2013 statement.

Your Personal Statement of Retirement Benefits comprises several pages, including a message from the superintendent and a statement page that shows personal data such as plan membership, the dates you become eligible for normal and early retirement, and your projected retirement benefits. It also provides information about death and disability benefits. Be sure to review all information carefully and contact the Employee and Retiree Service Center at 301-517-8100 or by email with questions.

Keep in mind that you can view, print or save your retirement benefit statement from your myMCPS account. If you have technical difficulties when logging in, contact the Help Desk at 301-517-5800.

A variety of resources are available to help you save for the future and better understand the retirement planning options. Understanding Your Retirement Statement will familiarize you with items that appear on your statement and guide you to other retirement planning resources. In addition, be sure to check your Outlook email inbox on Wednesday, Sept. 25, for the yearly Retirement Planning eNews, which contains important information about the MCPS pension plan and retirement savings options, as well as a link to log in to myMCPS to see your Personal Statement of Retirement Benefits. Links to other resources are available on the Retirement Planning web page.

Now Offered In-house: One-day Pre-retirement Seminar for Members of State Core Pension Plan

ERSC will host a one-day, in-house pre-retirement seminar for MCPS employees within two years of retirement who participate in the State Core Retirement/Pension Plan. The event will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, from 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Carver Educational Services Center, 850 Hungerford Dr. in Rockville.

While modeled after the pre-retirement seminars held in various venues around the state each year, this session will be customized for MCPS employees. In addition to pertinent pension information presented by a representative from the Maryland State Retirement Agency, session participants also will obtain information ranging from estate planning to financial planning.

Participants must register on the Professional Development Online (PDO) website (course number 74752) as space is limited to 80 employees.
