Save the Date: Anti-Vaping Symposium Set for March 28
MCPS is hosting an anti-vaping symposium from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. on Saturday, March 28 at Johns Hopkins University’s Montgomery County campus. The event, which will be open to staff, students, parents, health providers and community members, will provide information on the impacts of vaping, how to prevent vaping and resources for students and parents.
The keynote speaker is Dr. Ruben Baler, health scientist with the National Institute on Drug Abuse. He will be discussing “The Adolescent Brain and the Vaping Epidemic.” Dr. Baler will speak on how vaping can derail kids’ developmental trajectories, and degrade their physical and mental well-being. Dr. Baler will provide critical knowledge to better protect young people from the dangers of vaping.
The event will also feature a resource fair and breakout sessions for students and parents/adults.
The winners of the Let’s Clear the Air public service announcement contest will also be announced during the event. Attendees will also have an opportunity to meet and hear from professional athletes from D.C. United, Washington Spirit and the Washington Capitals.
The event will begin in the auditorium at Johns Hopkins’ Montgomery County Campus. The campus is located at 9601 Medical Center Dr. in Rockville.
