Seeking Future School Administrators
MCPS is looking for motivated, dedicated, skillful and creative people to become school-based administrators. Recruitment and development of future administrators ensures that MCPS continues to deliver a quality education for every student. Ideal candidates include teacher leaders or central office employees who have supported student achievement in the classroom, served in leadership capacity, provided professional development to other teachers, and/or developed curriculum and programs at the school or at the county level. If you want to learn more about becoming a school-based administrator in MCPS, register for the Future Administrators Workshop (FAW) on PDO.
The FAW prepares participants by emphasizing job requirements, performance expectations, preparation for the interview process and a preliminary writing assessment. It outlines how to apply for the assistant principal eligibility pool. Participants will talk with current school administrators, directors and supervisors from central services. The course is highly interactive and attendance at all four sessions is mandatory.
The workshop dates are: September 24, October 6, October 28, and November 17, from 4:30–6:30 p.m., at the Festival Center for Skillful Teaching at 283 Muddy Branch Road in Gaithersburg (Section 99986 on PDO. Only one make-up session is offered for one missed session on Thursday, Nov. 19 in the Maple Room at the Office of Human Resources and Development, 45 W. Gude Dr., in Rockville (Section 99987 on PDO). Registration for the workshop series and make-up is on PDO.
If you completed the FAW more than three years ago and are trying to re-enter the assistant principal eligibility pool, you may take the FAW refresher course on Tuesday, Dec. 1 and Wednesday, Dec. 2, at the Office of Human Resources, 45 W. Gude Dr. in Rockville in the Maple Room. Attendance at both sessions is mandatory. Register on PDO under Section 96742.
