Staff Honored for Support of English Language Learners

MCPS is recognizing the outstanding contributions and accomplishments of ESOL staff with the 2021-2022 English Language Development (ELD) Awards. These awards honor educators, leaders and a community member who have shown leadership and perseverance in multilingual learning. This year, MCPS also launched the Two-Way Immersion (TWI) Andy Gomez Award in honor of Andy Gomez, TWI coordinator, who exemplifies the three pillars of dual language education—bilingualism and biliteracy; high grade-level academic achievement and promotion to develop students’ sociocultural competence.
