At its business meeting on Feb. 7, the Board of Education approved the following administrative appointments:

- Joe L. Rubens, Jr., Director, Office of School Support and Well-Being, Office of the Deputy Superintendent
- Michael K. Lewis, Assistant Director, Department of Transportation, Office of District Operations, Office of the Chief Operating Officer
- Travis J. Wiebe, Principal, Somerset Elementary School
In Memoriam
Cynthia G. Garcia, teacher at Odessa Shannon Middle School, died on Jan. 25. She was 53 years old and had worked for MCPS for more than two years.
