Thinking about Becoming a Teacher?

To be eligible for this partnership, candidates should be MCPS support professionals in permanent positions.
Montgomery College (MC) will have faculty advisors available to discuss pathways to becoming a teacher. Montgomery College offers several Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) programs. The MC School of Education is currently recruiting for the CREATE evening/weekend teacher cohort for support professionals who are new to college or have some college background. There are limited spaces available for spring 2019 and MC is preparing for fall 2019. The spring 2019 evening/weekend schedule of classes for the AAT will be available for preview at the Oct. 24 meeting.
For support professionals who hold degrees, MC also offers the ACET (Alternative Certification for Effective Teachers) program, an alternative certification program in the high needs and STEM content areas.
