Thinking About Retirement?

In case you missed it in the ERSC ePaystub email sent to employees on Monday, March 6:
MCEA members who are vested and thinking about retiring or resigning on July 1 may be eligible for a 35 percent sick leave payoff if they submit retirement forms or resignation by Friday, March 31. Learn more.
In addition, 10-month employees planning to retire this year in July, August or September will maintain their employee benefits coverage through Sept. 30, 2023. If retiring 10-month employees opt to enroll in the MCPS retiree benefits plan, that coverage will go into effect on Oct. 1, 2023.
The rules for Medicare will not change for the new retirees. If you are a 10-month employee planning to retire in July, August or September, and if you and/or your dependent become eligible for Medicare between July 1 and Sept. 1, you must begin the Medicare application process on July 1, which is three months prior to your Oct. 1 Medicare effective date.
