Training Opportunities Available to Supporting Services Staff
A number of trainings are available and open to supporting services professionals. Register for these learning opportunities on PDO and search for the course number. These professional learning opportunities will be offered online via Zoom. Some of these opportunities are already available, but a few will be available for registration starting September 10.
Getting the Job: Successful Interviewing on Zoom
This workshop will help prepare participants to successfully interview for a promotional position. Participants will learn a framework for answering interview questions and discuss how to present themselves positively during an interview. 7 Habits of Highly Effective Employees
This presentation will provide an overview of the characteristics important to career success, and outline strategies for integrating these traits into our lives. Successful employees share many common traits such as integrity, a positive attitude, good interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic. This course will be held from 9–11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17. Leveraging Personalities and Communication in the Workplace
This workshop will foster greater collaboration, teamwork and understanding of your team members’ communication styles. Raising self-awareness about your communication style, as well as knowing the styles of your team members, will help you understand the contributions they make to the team. Underscoring what styles motivate and de-motivate you and others and identifying ways to better perform as a team will be explored. This course will be from 10 a.m.–noon on Tuesday, Sept. 22. School Finance Part 2
This class covers cash handling; Independent Activity Fund (IAF) procedures and guidelines related to field trips, fundraisers, ticket sales, yearbook and school store; bank reconciliations; Centralized Investment Fund (CIF); and resources to support the work of school financial agents. Please note: This course is designed for administrative secretaries, school financial specialists, school business administrators and school administrators. When registering for training, be sure to check with your supervisor if you plan to attend training during your regular duty hours. In addition, employees attending training during their assigned duty hours will need to submit MCPS Form 430-94: Professional Leave (PRO).
