A number of trainings are available and open to supporting services professionals. Register for these learning opportunities on Professional Development Online (PDO) and search for the course number. These professional learning opportunities will be offered online via Zoom.
Intermediate Excel (2 days) (Course #87044)
This is an instructor-led course that will teach the more advanced components of Excel, such as formulas and functions, multi-sheet workbooks, analyzing data, V Look Up and more. This course is for experienced Excel users. To be held from 4:30–6:30 p.m. on Sept. 28 and Sept. 30
5 Steps to Getting Started in Google (Course #87353)
This interactive course provides participants with basic understanding of the primary functions of five Google applications: Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Forms and Google Sheets. To be held from 4:30–6:30 p.m. on Sept. 29
Business English Grammar (Course #50702)
Build skills to project a professional image on paper by using appropriate language without errors in grammar, usage and punctuation. This class is a prerequisite for Proofreading and Effective Writing. After the first class, participants will access the course in a self-paced format over the course of three weeks via Google Classroom. Course instructors will be sending Google Classroom information to registered participants. To be held from 9–10 a.m. on Oct. 4
Future Leaders Series: Preparing for Promotion (4 days) (Course #64469)
These four two-hour sessions will explore leadership opportunities within MCPS, examine what is expected of MCPS leaders and supervisors, learn how managers and supervisors got where they are, sharpen interview skills, and learn how to create effective resumes and cover letters. To be held from 10 a.m.–noon on Oct. 5, 12, 19 and 26
Stress and Its Impact on Your Health (Course #90489)
A practical look at the effect stress has on individuals mentally and physically, along with helpful strategies for listening to internal alarm systems and proactively implementing stress management techniques that can improve health, productivity and life satisfaction. To be held from 4–6 p.m. on Oct. 12
Excel: Charting Data (Course #85442)
This instructor-led course covers tools needed to illustrate numeric data into pie, bar, line or column charts. It is geared for experienced Microsoft Excel users who need to learn more intermediate/advanced features. To be held from 4:30–6:30 p.m. on Oct. 12
School Finance Workshop for Aspiring Financial Agents (Course #52631)
This class will deliver an overview of the roles and responsibilities of the school financial agent and basic management of funds. School financial agents are principals, school business administrators, school financial specialists, elementary school administrative secretaries, assistant principals or other support professionals involved in the handling/management of Independent Activity Funds. To be held from 9 a.m.–noon on Oct. 13
