Twenty-One Educators Honored at National Board Certification Pinning
Twenty-one MCPS educators achieved certification by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) in 2019, and received their pins in a ceremony on March 10. Fifty teachers also renewed their certifications in 2019.
National Board Certification is achieved through an assessment process designed to measure what accomplished educators should know and be able to do. The process requires educators to demonstrate how their activities, both inside and outside the classroom, strengthen student performance and contribute to student achievement.
A number of meetings are coming up for educators interested in learning more about National Board Certification. The sessions will address the certification process, the benefits of achieving certification, and available district and state support.
