USG Offering Three Programs to Teachers, Special Educators

The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) is offering three programs for general education and special education teachers—two master’s degree programs and an online graduate certificate. They are:
- Master’s of Education in Special Education—Focus Autism Spectrum Disorders
- Offered at USG, this 30-credit program is designed for those interested in advanced training to serve the increasing number of students with autism spectrum disorders. The deadline to apply is Jan. 12, 2021. Master’s with Focus on Autism Spectrum Disorders
- Master’s of Education in Special Education—Focus Early Childhood Birth-Age 5
- This is a 30-credit program offered at USG. Graduate students will learn practices in instruction, assessment, positive behavior support and family involvement, with an emphasis on physical, sensory and multiple disabilities, delays and intensive needs. Course content will also address trauma-informed teaching and mental health. The deadline to apply is Jan. 12, 2021. Master’s with Focus on Early Childhood
Both master’s programs are delivered through a combination of face-to-face, blended and online formats. Courses are held after 5 p.m. All programs are part-time with one course per semester to accommodate working professionals. - Graduate Certificate—Special Education for General Education Teachers in Inclusive Classrooms
- This program provides instructional strategies and effective behavioral interventions to serve students with disabilities in inclusive classrooms. The 15-credit online program can be completed in one year, and will be offered online. Information on applying is available here.
