“Waymaking” Series Features Crisis Center, Science Behind Mindfulness
The “MCPS Waymaking” video series has new episodes up for staff and students as families adapt to the changes in daily life caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The show is hosted Dr. Christina Conolly, director of psychological services for MCPS. The three most recent shows highlight:
- A discussion with Rachel Larkin and Patricia Doherty, directors at EveryMind, which provides crisis prevention and intervention services in Montgomery County. The episode helps viewers understand that they don’t have to face moments of crisis alone.
- Mindful Moment, which features a discussion with Jeff Donald, the MCPS mindfulness coordinator. Together, they explain the science of mindfulness and demonstrate a simple breathing exercise to help calm stressful emotions and allow you to relax.
- The Montgomery County Crisis Center, which features a discussion with Dorne Hill, the director of the Montgomery County Crisis Center. The episode highlights the types of crisis services the center provides for Montgomery County residents 24/7 and advice on when someone should seek help.
