Who Will Be the Next Teacher of the Year?

Be sure to join us for the announcement of the Montgomery County Teacher of the Year at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 28. This year’s Champions for Children celebration will be held virtually.
The 2022–2023 Teacher of the Year finalists are: Irma Najarro, dual-language fourth grade teacher at Washington Grove Elementary School; Michael Edwards, world studies and global humanities sixth grade teacher at Julius West Middle School; and Johnathan Dunn, choral teacher at Sherwood High School.
The celebration will also recognize James Allrich, principal of Argyle Middle School who won the Dr. Edward Shirley Award for Excellence in Educational Administration and Supervision, and Supporting Services Employee of the Year Lauren Carver, a paraeducator at Quince Orchard High School. There will be a special recognition of the Dads on Duty program at Seneca Valley High School.
The event will be broadcast live on the MCPS website and on the MCPS YouTube channel.
