Workshops to Learn More about SEL Curriculum
The MCPS Parent Academy is holding two virtual workshops to give parents and caregivers an opportunity to learn more about Leader in Me, the district’s social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum.
With the changes and stress over the past year, more than ever, it is important to equip learners with skills that will allow them to successfully navigate life at school and at home. Come learn
about Leader in Me and how to develop and support students’ SEL skills. SEL is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions; set and achieve positive goals; feel and show empathy for others; establish and maintain positive relationships; and make responsible decisions.
Two virtual workshops are available—Thursday, Aug. 26 from 6–7 p.m., or Wednesday, Sept. 22 from 6–7 p.m. Advance registration is required. Register here.
Families will learn about the Leader in Me curriculum and how it supports the MCPS Be Well 365 initiative, as well as receive information about resources and training opportunities that can empower families to support their child’s learning at home.
