This email was sent to MCPS staff on Wednesday, Jan. 13.

Dear MCPS Staff,

We have received several questions in recent days about staff engagement on social media. The Social Media Best Practices for Employees is a valuable online resource for MCPS employees to guide them in their use of social media and online engagement.

Social media can be a powerful tool to enhance education and learning and can help MCPS further its mission and core values by engaging students, parents/guardians and the community. It is important to remember that MCPS rules apply online, as well as in our schools and workplaces, and what MCPS employees say or do on social media can impact how all of us are viewed professionally. Just like in any other work activities, we are all expected to interact with all students, parents/guardians, colleagues and the community with integrity and professionalism. Keep in mind that even your personal social media activities may affect your work.

Thank you for modeling good digital citizenship for our students.
